An email from Linda about a visit to the Lenawee County Historical Museum/Archives.
"They had a great collection of local history/Lenawee County info. We found a few interesting items, but need to look elsewhere probably to connect the Lathrops to the Underground Railroad. We can look elsewhere for now. They had original diaries, as far back as 1868, church records, obits, and boxes of info/newspaper clippings. We went through many things."

. From our visit to the Lenawee County Historial Museum in Adrian,
Mr. Samuel Lothrop was listed as the treasurer for the Plymouth Methodist
Church in 1856. Furthermore: "At the annual meeting of Jan. 6, 1866 are
mentioned the sources of the church income.
The treasurer, Mr.Lothrop, reported receipts during the year of #311.80, and thru the Sunday school cash $569.39, Provisions $161.00 and clothing $18.00, making the total receipts $1108,19."

This church was and is associated with Adrian College, which was known
for its work in the abolition movement.

2. Miles Manuel was listed as a Lenawee County Civil War Soldier. His town of origin was Tecumseh. He enlisted in the 1st Michigan Colored
Infantry at the age of 24. He died on 12-29-1863 in Detroit, Michigan. Source - Minorities of Lenawee County

Could this be a relative of the Manuel's living on the Lathrop property after the Civil War? I did a search on ancestry.com, but the
information is contradictory.

3. The Lenawee County Historical Museum in Adrian, Michigan has an
abundance of materials. Linda, Mary Kay,Monica, Tom, and I spent a pleasant afternoon there on Tuesday, March 29, 2005. We researched the Minority records, Histories of the churches in Adrian, Laura Haviland records, some of the journals and diaries, and many other resources. So far, no direct connection to the Lathrops in Sylvania. Mary Kay found a reference to the Lathrop House in Sylvania in a newspaper. Many churches were founded from the 1830s through the 1850s.
